CRESIRE collaborated with a UAE-based construction company to support the development of an accurate LOD 350 MEP model. The client’s primary requirement was to upgrade the model to LOD 400, making it suitable for quantity take-off and cost estimation.
The initial BIM model was developed within one month and submitted for the client’s review. Two months later, the client provided design modifications seamlessly incorporated into the updated Revit model.
Project Challenges
The client required a precise Bill of Quantities (BOQ) from the BIM model. However, they lacked in-house infrastructure or software such as Revit or Navisworks to directly review our models.
As a result, all discussions and model reviews were conducted through detailed screen-sharing sessions, ensuring clarity and alignment at every stage.
Two months after the initial model submission, the client proposed significant design changes in the MEP systems. Incorporating these revisions required additional modeling effort and extended the review timeline.Despite the delay, our team adapted quickly to implement the changes efficiently.
Although all BIM models were developed in-house by CRESIRE, the MEP design updates required us to realign the architectural and structural models accordingly. This introduced coordination challenges across disciplines, but through close collaboration and quality control, we ensured consistency and accuracy throughout the final model.
Conclusion
This project was a great example of teamwork and adaptability. Even though the client didn’t have in-house BIM tools, we made collaboration easy through screen-sharing and regular check-ins.
When major design changes came in later, we quickly adjusted and ensured everything was coordinated across all disciplines.
In the end, we delivered a detailed and reliable LOD 400 MEP model that met the client’s expectations for cost estimation and planning.
